The Most Important Thing in Life

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

What is the most important thing in your life?  Some people may say that it is a prized possession like a car, home, jewelry, animal, boat, etc.  Then again some folks my say that their health is the most important thing or their career or their reputation or bank account, perhaps a spouse or children.  Of all these things which one lasts forever?  None of them last forever.  One day they all disappear and so do we.  The question is what happens to us when we die.

Well, from dust we were created and to dust we shall return so we know that our physical bodies will one day decay.  Our spirits according to Paul will go on to a different place.  "Absent in the body present with the Lord and to live is Christ and to die is gain" says the Apostle Paul.  We, who we are, will live on forever in one place or the other, namely Heaven or hell.  See Revelation 20 and John 3:16.  Once again, a favorite saying of mine is 'we are not human beings having a temporary spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a temporary human experience'. (anon).  So many people, young and old alike, are chasing after things in life that are here today and gone tomorrow.  Our youth are too busy with sports, school, and other activities to come to church or youth group.  I like to ask the question, 'which of these activities is most likely to lead you and others to eternal life?'.  "Work out your salvation with fear and trembling" the Bible tells us.  "Store up your treasures in Heaven where moths and rust do not corrupt" is another one that we should pay attention to.  It is a matter of priorities.

What is important to you?  Why?  Can it, will it, save you?  Save your soul?  The older you get the faster time seems to go so before you know it you will be looking back on your life because most of it will be behind you.  One day we will meet our Maker.  Are you ready?  Do you know what you need to be ready?  I will tell you.  You need Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior in this life.  You have to believe in Him, that He is the Son of God who suffered and died on the cross for our sins.  He was buried and in 3 days was raised from the dead physically.  He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father to judge the living and the dead.  Believe in Jesus.  Believe in what He taught and did.  Study the Word of God.  Repent of your sins and ask Jesus into your heart.  Jesus loves you. Don't put it off because no one knows what tomorrow will bring.  Okay, I am done for today.  By the way, this is the most important thing to me, telling people about Jesus.

God loves you and so do I,

Pastor Bruce
