Fundamentals

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

How you doin?  :)  Someone said that my sermons were fundamental.  He liked that and so did I.  I have never claimed to be some fancy high-faluting theological preacher.  What you see is what you get.  I try not to play any games.  I just want to preach and teach the Bible.  I know that some of my colleagues feel led to serve the meat of the Gospel to their people and that is great.  I just hope and pray that my message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ touches many people in a positive way.  It is like I tell people, "Results are not up to us.  They are up to God.  We are only called to be obedient.

Too often we look at the results to determine if things are going the way we want them to when in actuality no matter how the results look, like a disaster or success, it may be exactly what God wants to have happen.  His ways are higher than our ways.  In other words, sometimes we have to fail in order to succeed.  Think about   it for a moment.  This really takes the pressure off doesn't it?  Of course being led by the Spirit is what is important here.  We learn how to follow the Spirit by attending church, SS, Bible studies, book studies, and praying a lot.  That is what living by faith and not by sight is all about.  Proverbs 3:5,6 may help. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and he will make your paths straight."  How about Matthew 6:33, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

No pressure, right?  Just learn what it is that God wants us to do with our lives (fundamentals) and then submit to the Holy Spirit.  Results are not up to us, only obedience, and that is by the Holy Spirit.  Have a wonderful day.

God loves you and so do I,

Pastor Bruce
